Touch Panel

Structure

Film-Glass Touch Panel literally uses film and glass with a resistive layer formed respectively that face each other. Normally, there is a gap of about 0.1mm that is maintained between film and glass. The switch will be conducted when the film is forced against the glass by an input of finger or pen.

Detection Principle

Film Glass (4-wire, 8-wire )Touch Panel has total of 4 wires which consists of 2 parallel electrodes provided on each X and Y axis.

For the detection principle, first, by applying voltage onto X-axis electrode and use Y-axis electrode as a voltage detector in order to obtain input position data of X-axis. Then, by applying voltage onto Y-axis electrode and use X-axis electrode as a voltage detector for obtaining input position data of Y-axis.

The real time data input by pen is possible through the alternatively repeated detection arrangemant to obtain the coordinates of X and Y axis.

8-wire Touch Panel

8-wire type touch panel has total of 8 lead wires from 2 parallel electrodes provided on each X and Y axis.

GUNZE controller (AHL-71N, AHL-71N-BL2, AHL-120N8, AHL-120N8-BL) has auto calibration function and by using this controller along with 8-wire touch panel, resolve input displacement due to change in resistance at each section of the touch panel.

"Auto Calibration" is a function by which the touch panel controller measures and adjusts the change of electric resistance according to the conditions in use when the controller's switch is turned on.
"User Calibration", an operation of software which corrects the touched and display positions due to bonding misalignment of touch panel and LCD, may be necessary when bonding misalignment or display positions are to be adjusted on a touch panel.
