Structure

When forming transparent electrode onto the upper surface of a plastic substrate, the formation must be done under 100 oC from concern about the thermal deformation.

Furthermoer, the gas such as moisture and organic solvent that plastic contains are emitted in the vacuum chamber affecting greatly on quality such as resistivity, linearity, transparency.

Therefore at GUNZE, the structre fo tough touch panel polycarbonate support type is to use electrode consists of a plastic film of about 0.1 - 0.2mm which the transparent electrode is formed onto the surface and a polycarbonate of 1 - 2mm bonded by adhesive.

Feature

Substituting glass material to plastic material will cut down the weight of touch panel to about half making it possible to design hard to break touch panel.

While there may be a limit of temperature in use of plastic as the heat expansion coefficient of plastic is greater than that of inorganic glass which bends the panel.

GUNZE polycarbonate type is constructed to be less affected by temperature by adjusting the heat expansion coefficients of lower electrode film and the polycarbonate substrate.

Besides having characteristics such as lightweighted and fracture-free, free geometric design is possible with polycarbonate type touch panel from the material structure.
