The wide range covered by Gunze plastic film products allows them to fulfill many of society’s constantly changing needs. Products such as shrinkable tubes, biaxially-oriented polypropylene films, films for plastic bottle shrink-label applications and composite nylon films have satisfied customers around the world. They are being produced in our facilities located in Shiga and Fukushima as well as Belgium, the U.S. and China to deliver distinctive market-specific products. Long-committed to environmental issues as well, Gunze has been in the forefront of promoting the development of lead-free products. We have also been producing and selling non-chloride films for shrink labeling and gas barrier applications well before dioxins became a major environmental issue, gaining acclaim from many customers.

Gunze is engaged in molding and processing high-performance plastics (engineering plastics) to produce a wide range of functional parts and components for photocopiers, printers and ultrapure water filters. Our engineering plastics also help boost productivity for semiconductor manufacturing and other industrial fields.

Gunze develops and markets a range of touch screens that serve as a human-machine interface for various applications. Touch screens for industrial use require a high level of reliability, while the consumer market calls for advanced technological solutions and production capacity. Our development process starts from materials.

Gunze is engaged in the comprehensive engineering business by offering laborsaving peripherals for printing machines, as well as inspection and packaging machines. In China, a new printing peripherals manufacturing/sales company, Beijing Beiren Gunze Machinery Co., Ltd., was established to aggressively promote overseas sales in Southeast Asia and rest of the world.

Gunze manufactures and sells bioabsorbable medical materials using highly biocompatible polymers and porcine-derived collagen. Gunze is the only company in Japan with such a comprehensive range of absorbable medical materials including suture thread. With 40% of total medical material sales achieved outside of Japan, Gunze is aiming to implement a more proactive global business strategy. Our progressive R&D efforts are also moving toward tissue engineering.

SiC (Silicon Carbide) is a chemical compound in which Si (silicon) and C (carbide) are combined one to one, and it practically does not exist naturally. In 1884, E. G. Acheson first synthesized SiC from clay and graphite, then sold it commercially as a polishing agent.
As SiC has particularly good heat resistance and low activation properties at high temperatures, there are expectations related to nuclear power and aerospace applications. Recently, it has attracted attention as a high-temperature semiconductor material (power devices) which can be used at temperatures close to 500℃ and for related materials.Gunze offers various process materials matching the customer needs. SiC and SiC composites materials also are available in various grades with a heat resistance matching the intended purpose; also, and client-specific solutions are offered.
