Preparing a Remote Sales Development Department and launching sales — Transitioning from “push” to “pull” sales strategy

- As the face-to-face approach for our sales activities in the COVID-19 situation was not feasible, we needed to modify our approach for providing solutions from the perspective of users. Gunze formed a new department, the Remote Sales Development Department, in November 2020. It is tasked to attract new customers and exploit new demands with a “pull” marketing approach to go along with our conventional “push” approach. The pull approach is intended as a “call to action” for customers, using remote tools to connect directly with what they are interested in.
Social media and email magazines are used to publicize Gunze’s vigorous efforts at tackling environmental issues and its eco-friendly products. These are in the form of stories that can resonate with various user groups. We will be working to expand the range of appealing content to generate more user inquiries. And for overseas customers as well, we will be promoting our products to suit the remote environment via video streaming and web seminars that offer better understanding of our products. Remote work tools give us a way to tap into new business opportunities, maintaining a flexible working style that supports evolving into a department where diverse talents can be utilized to maximum advantage.

With work style reforms ongoing, Gunze expanded the range of legwear items specifically developed to embody the concept of “ideal for working from home.” Gunze also extended the line of stylish bottoms under the BODY WILD and Tuché brands, while expanding the range of compression socks for leg care while the wearer slept and to ease swollen legs. Room shoes and leg warmers had a favorable market response as they enhanced staying comfortable at home.
