Poly(L-lactide-co-ɛ-caprolactone) (P(LA/CL)) based monofilament suture material
This bioabsorbable monofilament suture material is made of P(LA/CL). It is absorbed slower compared to PGA based suture material and loses half of its strength after 8 weeks via hydrolysis. P(LA/CL) dissolves into CO₂ and H₂O, which are excreted from the body naturally. Using absorbable suture material alleviates the burden on patients since suture removal is not required.
Gunze’s P(LA/CL) suture material is an unsterilized material, that can be used to produce surgical sutures. It is available in size EP5(USP2)~EP0.5(USP7-0), in beige (undyed) or violet.
