External environment
(Current status of food loss)

Food loss which is considered as still good is estimated to be 6.12 million tons.
Of the 3.28 million tons of business waste, which is different from household waste such as leftover food and excessive removal, the causes include the promotion of food spoilage due to holes (* pinholes) and the disposal of expired fresh vegetables at stores.

Expansion of cold chain

In recent years, "cold chain (low temperature transportation network)" has expanded to reduce food loss.
It is used for various purposes such as nationwide delivery of food and long storage. However, at low temperatures, the film becomes hard and the increase of pinholes are concerned.

The usage of freezing resistance film

Freezing resistance film is especially effective for low-temperature distribution products such as frozen and refrigerated products.
Since the contents are frozen, the pouch may be punctured from inside due to the dropping impact during filling.
The film becomes hard in the frozen environment during transportation, so the occurrence of pinholes increase. Furthermore, there are many cases that the pouch breaks when it is dropped.

Why do Gunze develop freezing resistance film?

“Multi-layer compositions” is an original technology of Gunze.
With a single piece of film, it is possible to solve many problems related to pinholes.
