Hybrid film: Full shrink and cut in all directions!

Gunze's hybrid shrink film has been widely used in Japan, the United States, China, and Southeast Asian countries.
The multi-layered film is the industry's only co-extruded film of different materials.
In this article, we would like to present three reasons why the hybrid film is used for food, homecare, and personal care products.

1. Full-shrink sleeve

Hybrid shrink film enables the full-shrinking appearance of various types of bottles.

HDPE (high-density polyethylene), PET, PP (polypropylene), and glass are mainly used for bottles. The bottles can easily deform using hot air tunnels if the temperature is too high, and it will cause the film to shrink more than the preferred degree. The hybrid film can be finished beautifully at a lower temperature than other film material types.
This product is ideal for those who are concerned about handling properties.

2. Perforation

The hybrid film has different features unique to PET and OPS film, so it can cut both vertically and horizontally with micro perforation.

The advantages of micro-perforation are:

(1) Tamper-Evident
The cap-sealing plays an important role to ensure tamper-evident. In addition, shrink film is more suitable and efficient to contain a lot of information about products. Integrated full-shrink sleeves enable you to cover from the lid to the body with a single label, and tear off from the perforation easily both vertically and horizontally.

(2) Easy to sort sleeves from bottles
The brand users will be more interested in sustainable approaches, such as environmental-friendly materials and notes on packaging to encourage sorting and recycling. Adding perforation in both directions allows you to easily sort sleeves and labels from the bottles, which can contribute to improving consumer convenience.

3. Non-PVC Trend

Many global brands have excluded PVC in packaging due to concerns about the harmful effects of PVC.

PET film is often used as an alternative, but PET film can cause wrinkles and strains on the labels.
You can use hybrid film as a non-PVC-containing film with confidence.

Gunze offers free shrinking tests with actual bottles as one of the solution proposals. Based on a number of our past case studies, we will find the root cause for the present issues and advise customers on the suitable conditions for shrinking and converting through complimentary tests.

If you have any problems or concerns, please feel free to contact us. We will be happy to set up an online meeting to discuss based on past examples of our proposals.
