Gunze launches environmentally friendly polyolefin-based heat-shrinkable film “GEOPLAS™ FRG”
-Creating a new circular economy for shrink label to promote the market spread of the product-

Osaka-Gunze Limited (Headquarters: Osaka, Japan, President: Toshiyasu Saguchi)[TOKYO:3002] is pleased to announce that the company will launch a new polyolefin-based heat-shrinkable film “GEOPLAS FRG” on February 1, 2022. The product density is less than 1. Compared to other materials, the same thickness product can reduce the usage of plastic resin and is expected to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
In the near future, the company will realize horizontal recycling of labels Note 1 by density separation recycling process. Gunze will promote the market spread of the product and create a new circular economy for shrink film.
* Note 1: Horizontal recycling is a method in which the collected plastic is pulverized into small pieces, washed, and used for the same purpose as the original container. It is mainly used in PET bottles and is called "bottle to bottle". Gunze will take this one step further and evolve it to "label to label".

1. About product launch

Gunze has established "Promoting a basic policy towards a recycling system for plastics" and evolved a strategy of "Conversion to recycled and bio-attributed raw materials” in December 2019. The new product will be a major product in creating a plastic circular economy for shrink label.
