About helmet therapy for positional skull deformation

(1) Since the infant's skull is made up of multiple bones loosely connected by fibrous tissue, the bones are movable and the skull itself is soft until around one year of age. Cranial deformity may occur due to continuous pressure on the skull caused by the baby's orientation habit and the way he or she is laid down.
(2) This cranial deformity in infants due to external pressure is caused by continuous pressure on the soft skull at 2 to 20 weeks of age, and if left untreated, may be fixed after 12 months of age.
(3) Helmet therapy for positional skull deformation is determined by a comprehensive examination and consultation at a medical specialist.
(4) In the case the helmet therapy is needed, a medical specialist uses a 3D scanner to obtain data and create a helmet that fits the head of each individual infant.
(5) The helmet therapy takes about 5 months on average, and the infant wears it day and night. Based on the observation by medical specialist, size adjustment and the time of completion of helmet therapy will be determined.
