Gunze Donates Ginkgo Trees to Osaka City to Preserve Healthy Rows of Ginkgo Trees on Midosuji Avenue
One of our efforts to protect biodiversity with Osaka City

Osaka-Gunze Limited (Headquarters: Osaka, Japan, President: Toshiyasu Saguchi) [TOKYO: 3002] is pleased to announce that it has donated nineteen ginkgo trees in response to Osaka City's request to preserve the healthy rows of ginkgo trees on Midosuji Avenue and pass them on to future generations.
In recent years, it has become difficult to secure ginkgo trees. The speed of tree production has not kept pace with the demand for greenery. The ginkgo trees we are delivering this time were shipped from contracted plots in Tochigi and Ibaraki prefectures. The ginkgo trees to be delivered this time were procured from contract plots in Tochigi and Ibaraki prefectures, utilizing the procurement capabilities of consolidated subsidiary Gunze Green. Gunze has also established a plot on the grounds of its Research Institute in Ayabe City, Kyoto, where the company was founded, to secure ginkgo trees for cultivation and to continue to provide stable support. Gunze will continue to make efforts to contribute to society through its business activities in a way that respects biodiversity.

Background of the donation

In December 2019, the City of Osaka and Gunze signed an "Agreement on the Supply of Ginkgo Trees on Midosuji Avenue" with the aim of preserving the ginkgo trees on Midosuji in good health and passing them on to future generations, in light of the extensive damage to the ginkgo trees on Midosuji caused by Typhoon No. 21 in September 2018.
